Teeth Whitening Methods

There are 3 main ways of teeth whitening / delivery methods (how the whitening gel is applied to the teeth) to review, the final choice is simply down to the style preferred by the individual to suit lifestyle, time and convenience.

 Teeth Whitening Kits

Teeth Whitening kits is oldest form of delivery method and initially one used by only dental professionals, however nowadays most “whitening kits” come with them supplied as a “boil and bite” alternative.

The quality of the new ‘thermo shrink whitening trays is very good and is very close to a dental quality one, which provides great savings.

The basic principle is that the teeth mould or gum shield is dipped in hot but not boiling water for a few seconds. Each mould is inserted into the mouth one at a time, it does not matter whether you start with the upper or lower teeth.

Then the air is sucked out from around the mould, and pressed and ‘moulded’ around the teeth with the fingers.

After a minute you remove the whitening tray and rinse in cold water. Repeat for the other set of teeth.

You do not need to apply a lot whitening gel as during the oxidisation process the gel will agitate, froth slightly and work it way around all areas of the whitening tray. In some kits it is recommended to leave the last tooth impression without whitening gel for this very reason.

The majority of teeth whitneing kits that you will fond in this online store are used by most dentists world wide. They are enamel safe, dental strength.

Crest Whitening Strips

Better know as Crest Whitestrips (or the new Crest 3D Whitestrips), Crest whitening strips are a single or multiple strip of micro fils (or films) that contain on the surface a pre determined amount of whitening gel.

Similar to the making of a whitening tray, the backing of the whitening strip is removed and the micro film applied to both the upper and lower set, pressing and moulding the micro film around the teeth. Both sets of teeth can be whitened at the same time so this is a very convenient method.

The results used with whitening strips are exactly the same compared to the whitening tray / gel method as above.

Teeth Whitening Pens

Teeth whitening pens have more recently designed for those people who need to whiten on the go, or who need a more convenient delivery method due to time restrictions, or indeed for those who require a top up whitening.

This method is also very good for those people who have specific areas or individual teeth they wish to treat.

The whitening process can take slightly longer than either trays or strips however the results by using exactly the same ingredients are generally the same.
